We offer Basic Cow Working Class. This course is designed to be a review of safety, equitation and horsemanship for novice to intermediate riders. Students will be placed into this course based on testing prior to the first day of class. Students in the course must minimally be able to tack up and warm up their own horse; mount and dismount; ride simple figures at the walk, trot and canter; and cool out and untack their own horse.
The main focus of this course will be on safety, equitation (rider’s position) and use of the rider’s aids in a workingcow enviroment. Students will learn the principles and practices behind cow work for the competive/or pleasure practice; the use of simple and advanced figures while riding for balance between horses and riders; maintaining control and collectivness cutting out and driving cattle, while enjoying the fun, speed and challlenge of the ride. This class is run at a seperate facuility until we aquire the amount of cattle needed. The horses will beTransported 13miles to peace point in the winter, and 16miles to MVHA in the summer. There we will have full accessto pen, sort, cut and drive cattle, we will be able to work your horse, or a supplyed horse into a herd, working ontechinque.
These classes are run in 3hr. blocks at 40.00 dollars flat fee for cattle access and 30.00 an hour instruction.
